Risk Consultant
Bruce Arnold joined The Risk Board in 2015, after a career in investment banking, an advanced degree, and recent regulatory experience. Bruce was seconded to Australia in 1989 to develop the market for mortgage backed securities, for which he was recognised by the Australian Securitisation Forum as a Fellow.
In 2009 Bruce was admitted to the PhD in finance, bringing formal academic rigour to decades of observation and practice in the banking sector. He then spent four years with Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (‘APRA’), Australia’s integrated prudential regulator, primarily in the role of head of research.
During that same period, he taught international banking in the Masters of Commerce / Master of Finance programs at the University of New South Wales, developing the course from primary sources when the global financial crisis made existing texts obsolete.
After returning to academics for a PhD in finance, Bruce went to work at APRA, where he headed the research unit. Most recently, Bruce worked on the implementation of the RBA’s securitisation reporting system. Bruce, who was also admitted as an attorney in the United States, is particularly interested in the regulatory aspects of risk management.
As an investment banker, Bruce worked in the debt capital market, specialising on securitisation.
